CLICK ON THE THUMBNAILS TO OPEN THE LARGER PICTURE
A very easy game to play but heaps of fun. There are 40 large playing cards featuring three of each suspect and weapon each bearing a different number 1 - 3
Five cards are dealt to each player and the rest are placed face down in the centre. The top card is then turned face up and players have to lay a card bearing the same picture or number as the card turned up. So if the cards turned up were Miss Scarlet bearing the number 3 then the next player would have to lay a Miss Scarlet Card OR any other card bearing the number 3. Its that simple. If a player cannot follow in either way then they must pick up a card from the deck. The first player to get rid of all their cards receives 3 points and it is the first player to get to 10 points is declared the winner.
Simple?? Of course. But there are a few twists and turns! Some of the Weapon Cards have special properties. If any DAGGER is played then that player can choose any other to miss a go. If any CANDLESTICK is played then the player on the left misses a go. If a REVOLVER is played then that player MUST exchange his hand with any other player which can work for and against. Great if you have 12 cards in your hand and another player has only 2 but not so good if the position is reversed. And, finally, if a ROPE is played then that player can take another turn.
So there you have it...except for the final 4 cards!!! Another twist at the end. To make up to 40 the amount of cards in the deck there are 4 master cards each featuring three different suspects or weapons.
One of these cards are dealt to each player at the start of each game and kept face down. When someone runs out of cards and wins the round these are turned face up. If any player has on their card the same card as the last one played then they lose that amount of points from their score. For example, if the last card played was a Miss Scarlet card number 2 the person holding the miniature card bearing Miss Scarlet would have to lose 2 points from their score. With four people playing then someone will ALWAYS lose points. For 2 or 3 handed games there is always the chance that the final card will be on the unused miniature.
And for anyone who is asking, "What about the rooms??" - They are on the back of the cards!
So that's it in a nutshell. Easy to play but can be frustrating and great fun at the same time.
