CLUE LITTLE DETECTIVE -

COLOR MATCHING MYSTERY GAME (1992)

CLICK ON THE THUMBNAILS TO OPEN THE LARGER PICTURE

One of the American Junior range intended for 3-6 year olds. It's quite a bit of fun and is a cross between Snakes & Ladders and Sorry!  The idea is simple enough. You have to get your playing piece from the attic down to the front door and outside. There are various coloured circles that you move along plus five special circles. If you look closely on the board you will find the Candlestick, Lead Piping, Rope and Spanner though I cannot find the Dagger or Revolver - maybe they were considered too violent for a children's game!!!

Movement is by drawing cards from the deck. If you draw a "colour" card then you move your piece to the first available circle bearing that colour. If you draw one of the special cards, (The Ghost, Skeleton, Bat, Mummy or Spider) you have to move to the circle bearing that picture - so like that big snake on square 97 that zooms you back down to number 23 in Snakes and Ladders, you could be on the last square before home on this game and draw the Ghost card and have to go back there!!  The seven "BOO" cards are there to scare you and make you miss a turn!!

There are also certain colour circles on the board that are joined to another circle of an identical colour around the board. These are secret passages and if you land on one you can slide to the end of it!!

The sleuths in this game are, of course, children. Little Detective Scarlet, White and so on and are pictured on large plastic playing pieces.

And that's it!! The first one home is the winner!! Great fun!!
