May be me, but the cover of this just reminds me of a Scooby Doo cover. The game inside is pretty simple but can be a lot of fun.
The characters in this are now Samantha Scarlet, Mustard the Dog, Wendy White, George Green, Polly Peacock & Peter Plum. There are nine room cards depicting three bats, cats and ghosts, although they can only be seen through a special magnifying glass similar to the one used on the CLUEDO Jigsaw series.
One of each of these cards are placed face down in each room at the start of the game. Basically, the idea is for the characters to move around the board as normal, entering rooms and looking at the card in that room, the object being to be the first to find the rooms containing the three ghosts.
Sounds easy, eh?? Well, there is of course a nice CLUEDO twist.
There are 8 floorboard tokens and 8 spider tokens. These are placed randomly around the board at the start of the game. If a character lands on a floorboard it squeaks and scares the cats, bats and ghosts so much that the character landing on the floorboard takes any two cards from two different rooms and swaps them. Once stood on, the floorboard is removed from play. Good memory is a great aid in this game as the ghost you found in the Hall may be swapped and end up in the Kitchen so you have to watch the movement of the cards carefully.
The spiders are an added complication. Four have metallic washers concealed inside them while the other four do not. As characters move round the board they must touch the spiders as they pass or land on them. If the spider attaches itself to the player, it has bitten him and the spider is removed from play and the bitten character must go to the centre of the board and then continue on his next turn from there. Spiders without washers (the non-biters) are only removed from play when a character actually lands on them.
