The second Junior CLUEDO came in a small box and once again utilised a magic magnifying glass to secretly look at clues as in the 1993 Version.
Anyway, here's the premise. Watson, Inspector CLUEDO's Bloodhound has hidden two items in his kennel and it up to the Inspector's nieces and nephews to discover which two items. The game can only be played by a maximum of four players but there are eight to choose from. Jake Plum, Natalie Peacock, Jessica Scarlett, Spike Mustard, Robbie Green, Tom Black, Megan White and Beth Peach!
Like the 2003 Junior CLUEDO, The cardboard characters fit into small white playing bases. There are eleven small red magnifying glass tokens (One can be seen in the above picture). There is an item printed on each but these can only be seen through the large magnifying glass.
There is no board, instead, there are ten room cards. Nine red bordered cards numbered 1 to 9 and a single unnumbered yellow room card. The Rooms are 1) Main gate, 2) Shed, 3) Swimming Pool, 4) Terrace, 5) Stables, 6) Grand Hallway, 7) Stair Case, 8) Boat House & 9) Conservatory.
These nine cards are shuffled and placed face down in a 3 x 3 formation on the table. (Why these have to be placed face down is anybody's guess. There's no real rhyme or reason to it!) The yellow card is placed face up and is the start space for all the players. Two of the small magnifying glass tokens are removed and placed in Watson's Kennel.
The other nine are placed under the nine room cards.
Play commences with the youngest player going first (Well, that lets ME out). The dice is numbered 1,1,2,2,3,3. Players roll and move over the room squares horizontally or vertically and the room they land on, they turn over the room card, look at the token below with the special magnifying glass and note the item found in the room on their score sheet.
And basically, that's all there is to it. It's really just the first person to visit all nine rooms and discover the two missing items that must be in Watson's Kennel. Well, it is only for 5 - 8 year olds!!!
Having said that, however, I have played the 1993 version and found you really need a good memory to play that and win - that must be the one for REAL CLEVER 8 year olds!!!
As Groucho Marx once said. "A five year old could understand this!! Go and get me a five year old, I can't make head or tail of it!!" :)))
