CLUEDO - THE TV SERIES (1990 - 1993)
YOU ARE INVITED TO A MURDER!
A stranger lies dead in Arlington
Grange. There are 6 suspects but which one is the killer?
Could it be Mrs. Peacock, Lady of the Manor and beautiful society hostess?
Perhaps Colonel Mustard. Military hero and intimate family friend.
Is Reverend Green a saint or a sinner?
Is it Professor Plum? A Man with a degree of suspicion?
Miss Scarlett? Mrs. Peacock's glamorous step-daughter.
Or Mrs. White? Loyal housekeeper and devoted confidante?
A great little series that ran on THAMES Television in the early 90s. It lasted for four seasons and consisted of 25 episodes. Each season lasted for 6 episodes and there was one Christmas Special in 1990. Each week, a different murder was acted out and a team of sleuths had to discover, in true CLUEDO fashion, the Murderer, Weapon & Room involved.
The murders all took place in Arlington Grange, the residence of Mrs. Peacock.
In all of the four series AND the Christmas Special, a different cast was used for the suspects giving us five different characterisations. In the first series, the sleuths were two celebrities who each played with a member of the public giving two teams of two. This was dropped from the Christmas Special onwards when the sleuths became two teams of two celebrities. The sleuths were shown a different story each week when a (normally) unpleasant character came to Arlington Grange and ended up foully murdered. The sleuths then had to ask the suspects questions and make deductions to the perpetrator of the crime.
The Rooms used were always the Billiard Room, Dining Room, Drawing Room, Kitchen, Library & Study except for the Christmas Special where the Billiard Room was replaced by The Hall. The six possible weapons were different each week with only the Christmas Special using the standard set of CLUEDO weapons - Candlestick, Gun, Lead Piping, Rope, Spanner & Knife.
I have gone into more detail with a page for each season and a synopsis of each story and, further down the page so that they cannot accidentally be seen, the solutions to each weeks mystery. Each series of CLUEDO had slightly different ruling and I will cover those on each seasons page.

1.
Series 1 was the only series in which a suspect did two murders and one suspect
was totally innocent in all six episodes. Mrs. Peacock murdered twice while
Reverend Green was the innocent party thus making the final episode less of a
foregone conclusion.
2. Reverend Green, in fact, had to wait nine
episodes (including the Xmas Special) to be the murderer.
3. Mrs. Peacock was the first and last
murderer of the four series.
4. Mrs. Peacock & Miss Scarlett hold the
record for the most murders with five kills apiece. Peacock's two in series one
and one in each of the next three series made her five while Miss Scarlett's one
kill per season and the Xmas Special killing made her five. Professor Plum, Mrs.
White & Colonel Mustard all murdered four times, one in each season and Reverend
Green brings up the rear with three killings, one in each of the last three
seasons.
5. The Dining Room was the scene of the
murder in episodes 1 and 2 of the first season but was never used again. The
Kitchen & Study were each used six times, The Billiard Room five times, The
Drawing Room four, The Dining Room & Library twice and The Hall, that replaced
The Billiard Room in The Christmas Special, was not used as a murder location.
6. Of the original 6 CLUEDO murder weapons,
only The Dagger, Rope & Lead Piping were used during the four series. There was
no Candlestick, Spanner, and surprisingly, no Gun used.
7. Arley Hall in Northwich, Cheshire was the
House used in the series as Arlington Hall.
