ITALIAN TRAVEL CLUEDO SPECIAL EDITION (1996)

The (in)famous mad looking suspects box cover finally comes to Romford, albeit in this very neat Special Edition Travel version from Italy. Although similar to my pet hate 1996 and French 1996 versions, there are a couple of small differences.

The suspect cards are basically the same all featuring another shot of the loony suspects although Colonel Mustard looks nothing like he does on the box. The same can be said for Reverend Green who looks completely barmy on the card but bears an uncanny resemblance to John Gielgud on the box!

All the playing cards are actually printed on very flimsy card, almost like paper. The weapons are as normal but, instead of metal or plastic weapons, there are 6 oval discs featuring each of the six weapons. I must admit, I rather like these.

The rooms again feature the small picture taken from outside the Mansion which are totally useless as it is impossible to tell the rooms apart.

The playing board is quad fold and made of card. It features a black backing with the CLUEDO logo printed on one quarter.

Finally, the case card envelope is designed like an envelope so the cards slide in sideways. A first, I believe.

So, all in all, an interesting little set. Just a shame it features my least favourite set of cards!! But at least I have the great box cover at last!!
