JAPANESE HOMICIDE MANSION CLUE (1991)
My first, and hopefully not last, Japanese CLUEDO. I'm not 100% sure of the relevance of the Tortoiseshell Cat in this version but she appears on the box and on the back of the cards. Dotted all over the place actually. Trying to find out the relevance and if I do I will post the explanation here.
N.B. Have been scouring the internet and have discovered some information on this game. It appears to be based on a series of detective novels written by Japanese author, Jiro Akagawa who, I believe, is pictured on the box lid in the top left hand corner. He wrote a series of detective novels entitled "The Tortoise Shell Detective Cat Holmes" so at least I can now see the relevance of the old pussy on the box!!
The game is entirely in Japanese so the suspect cards are a bit of a mystery. The colours are right but male and female suspects are not coloured as normal as in the c1972 Spanish and Swiss CLUEDO's. This time the Scarlet, Green & Plum characters are female while the others are the males. I expect these are characters from the Tortoiseshell Cat books but will have to just have to call them by colours as in the Korean version.
The rooms have some slight changes.
The Billiard Room and Library now appear to have become The Bathroom and Bedroom. As can be seen, our Tortoiseshell friend emblazons the back of the cards and here she is again in the centre of the board!
The weapons are still the standard bunch.
Our little pussy friend also appears on the solution envelope, rule book & detective notes!
So there it is, a great new version in the collection but still unsure about the suspect cards. And finally, for once a scan of the bottom of the box!
