CLUE - THE CARD GAME Mystery At Sea (2009)
CLICK ON THE THUMBNAILS TO OPEN THE LARGER PICTURE
Although similar to CLUEDO Top Cards this version does have a couple of differences. This time, instead of using location squares, there is a small board depicting a luxury yacht belonging to Mr Boddy.
The difference this time is that Mr Boddy might not be the victim, he may be a suspect. Surprisingly, the 1996 CLUE characters are STILL being used in this version.
There are 7 character markers which are shuffled together face down at the start of the game and one marker is then turned face up. This is the murder victim. The victims blue backed CLUE card is removed from play and is not used in this game.
The six remaining markers are placed face down next to each of the six rooms on the yacht board and then turned face up. The rooms show where on the yacht they are i.e. Bow, Midship or Stern and whether they are Port or Starboard.
Similarly, the weapons state whether they are coiled or blunt.
As in usual CLUEDO, now one from each pile is placed under the stern of the yacht - that is the solution. The rest of the cards are shuffled together and dealt round. Mark the cards you are dealt with off the detective notes. The victim should also be crossed off at this point.
And finally, the green backed "Action Cards." This pack is shuffled and one dealt to each player. On each players turn, he takes one from the stock pile and plays one of the two now in his hand.
There are 36 "Action Cards". 18 are suggestion cards. You may make a suggestion in the current room or any room. In the current room means that if the Miss Scarlet marker is next to the Sun Deck you must accuse her in that room only. In any room means that if you want to accuse Miss Scarlet in the Master Suite but the Mrs Peacock marker is there you may swap the markers round. There are 6 Super Sleuth cards where each player must show you certain cards. This is when the extra information on the cards comes in as you may have to show one stern side card, one blunt weapon card or a male suspect card. There are 5 Private Tip cards in which a player must show you certain cards in private. This could range from one Bow Side card to ALL Room cards. There are 4 All Snoop cards in which all players may snoop (pick any card) from the player indicated on the card. The cards are held face down and you must choose at random. Finally, there are 3 Snoop cards which allow you to snoop on any other players hand.
This then is the game. Another great version of the Top Cards and one where Mr Boddy may be getting his own back and becoming a murderer!!
