CLUEDO SUPER SLEUTH (1995)

Suspects     Weapons     Playing Pieces     Rooms     Event

This was the first CLUEDO I bought on E-Bay back in April 04. There is no board for this version, instead there are twelve tiles that are kept face down at the beginning of the game. They are laid below in random order to show how a board might look. The picture to the right shows the rear of the room cards.

Twelve tiles in all featuring three new rooms, The Cellar, The Drawing Room & The Entrance Hall. The Entrance Hall tile is laid face up at the beginning of the game as the start point. As the players move off, new tiles are laid as each player leaves a room so now the rooms are never in the same place. As you lay a tile there are "Clue" & "Item" squares. On each "Item" square you lay a white cross and on each "Clue" square you lay a mini magnifying glass". Players landing on these squares can take a card. The Clue cards are the normal suspect, weapon & room cards to add to your hand. Item cards are items that can help you in the game.

Players can only make accusations when another player is in the same room with them.

In addition to all this there are now three extra playing pieces. An Inspector, A Butler and a Dog. These are used to block other players and come into play via EVENT Cards. (See Below)

The playing tokens are pewter. The six suspects have round bases and the three extra pieces have square bases. A good friend of mine has painted the pieces so now they show up a lot better.

The suspect, weapon and room cards are the same as used in the Super CLUEDO Challenge version. Although there are now 12 rooms in this version, only the normal 9 are used in the accusations. The extra three rooms are used simply to give the playing area a 3x4 symmetry.

In the Entrance Hall There is a telephone. When a Player thinks they have the solution they must reach this square to make the final accusation. This is where the extra 3 game pieces can come in handy depending on which items other players hold.

In addition there are also EVENT cards which can help or go against you. The dice in this game have red spots on 2 sides and the numbers 3 to 6 on the other four. EVENT cards are gained whenever a red dot is rolled.

This is a great fun version and, believe me, the item cards work as I know from experience beating another player to the telephone by one square using the ITEM cards :)
